Detailed Solution

In 1526 CE, Babur become the ruler of the Mughal Empire. The Mughal rulers who succeeded him built a vast empire that reigned over much of the subcontinent. Babur was from a noble family; on his father's side, he was a descendant of Timur, and on his mother's side, he was a descendent of Genghis Khan. Five years after his original invitation to the Indian subcontinent, in 1526 CE, Babur began his campaign in the Delhi Sultanate and its ruler Ibrahim Lodi. The Mughal Empire in India was eventually established as a result of Ibrahim Lodi's devastating failure in the Battle of Panipat.
