After Class VI, boys and girls went to separate schools in Madhya Pradesh in the 1960s. In Madhya Pradesh's government schools, the boys' school had a considerably different layout than the girls'. They had a central courtyard where they could play without outside interference. The boys' playground was simply a sizable area linked to the building.
