Gandhiji supported the peasants of the Kheda district in organising a Satyagraha movement against the high revenue demands. It was the year 1917 when the peasants of the Kheda district decided to stand up against the high revenue tax demand after facing crop failure and epidemic plague. Both these mishaps left the peasants helpless, and they could not meet the high tax demands. The main aim of the Satyagraha movement was to relax the revenue demand. Gandhiji supported the peasants in this movement. This was the second big Satyagraha organised by Gandhiji after returning to India.
