Detailed Solution

From 1848 to 1856, Lord Dalhousie presided as the governor general of India.
Dalhousie was successful in annexing Punjab to British rule during this time. By using the "Doctrine of Lapse," he annexed numerous states. According to the doctrine of lapse, the company seized control of the princely realms of Satara (1848), Jaitpur and Sambalpur (1849), Bhagat (1850), Udaipur (1852), Jhansi (1854), Nagpur (1854), Tore and Arcot (1855). It is widely considered that Awadh (1856) was annexed in accordance with the Doctrine of Lapse.
