Mahatma Gandhi started the Kheda Satyagraha in 1918.

The peasants' education about their rights, the movement's continued nonviolence, and the community's unwavering demand for lower taxes were among the movement's biggest successes. The conflict at Kheda led to a fresh upsurge of peasant awakening in the country.
