Detailed Solution

In 1804, Napoleon Bonaparte proclaimed himself the Emperor of France.
Napoleon, who subsequently rose to power as Emperor of France and ruled over most of Europe, was a product of the French Revolution. Many of the Kings were overthrown by him, and his family members were installed as their replacements to rule the country. In addition to a consistent system of weights and measures based on the decimal system, he instituted numerous other regulations, such as those protecting private property. He continued to codify several laws, creating a set of codes known as the Napoleonic code. Although his troops were perceived by many as invading forces, he was widely regarded as a liberator. In 1815, Napoleon was routed at the Battle of Waterloo.
