Detailed Solution

Bloody Sunday, sometimes referred to as Red Sunday, occurred on January 22, 1905. In one incident, Father Georgii Gapon's protesters were openly fired upon by Imperial Guards as they marched towards the Winter Palace to deliver their petition to Tsar Nicholas II. It sparked a great deal of popular resentment throughout the Russian Empire and is frequently referred to as the basis formation of the beginning of the active phase of the 1905 Revolution. More than 100 marchers were killed and hundreds were injured in this massacre. Following the massacre, there were further strikes in other towns, which sparked mutinies in the armed forces and eventually led to the Revolution of 1905.
