Detailed Solution

The Civil War ended in Sri Lanka in 2009.
When the Sri Lankan military defeated the militant Tamils, the political instability between the Sinhalese, who made up the majority in Sri Lanka, and the Tamils, who made up the minority, was the root cause of the war. The civil war went on from 1983 through 2009. The cause of the war is the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam's (LTTE) sporadic insurgency against the government, which aimed to establish an independent Tamil state in the island's north and east parts.
