Detailed Solution

The government amended the ‘Child Labour Prevention Act’ in october 2006.
Children form a considerable part of the labour force in India. Many children were engaged in hazardous work conditions as there was no law to regulate child labour. In October 2006, the government enacted the Child Labour Prevention Act, which banned child labour below the age of 14 and made it a punishable offence. Childhood is a very important stage and children should engage in education at this stage, but because of poverty, many children work for and with their families. But still, child labour is prevalent because of the gaps in the implementation and enforcement of the law.
