The government dispatched the cavalry and police to keep an eye on them. The administration shut down the Duma on Sunday, February 25. Politicians protested the proposal. On the 26th, protesters flooded the left bank's streets once more. The Police Headquarters was looted on the 27th. People shouted chants demanding bread, salaries, better hours, and democracy as they filled the streets. To maintain control, the administration once more dispatched the cavalry. The cavalry, however, refrained from opening fire on the protesters.
