During the 1950s, the Green revolution took place in India. It encouraged Indian farmers to use high-yielding varieties of seeds and introduced them to modern agriculture techniques. HYV (high-yielding variety of seeds) were promoted due to their unique benefits, as they have the potential to produce ten times more harvest than standard seeds. They were coupled with different modern agriculture technologies like multipurpose agriculture tools, irrigation facilities, chemical fertilizers, and pesticides, which led to enormous growth in the production of food grains in the country.
