When did the New York got attacked?

New York was attacked on 11 September 2001. The September 11 attacks, also known as 9/11 attacks, were the deadliest terrorist attacks on American soil to date, and were carried out by 19 militants affiliated with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda. After the devastating attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C., the United States devoted massive resources to the fight against terrorism. All 19 terrorists were killed in the attacks (see Researcher's Note: September 11 attacks), with 2,750 of them in New York, 184 at the Pentagon, and 40 in Pennsylvania (where one of the hijacked planes crashed after the passengers attempted to retake the plane). More than 400 police and firefighters lost their lives in New York City, and the city's police and fire departments were among the hardest hit.
