Detailed Solution

The Quit India Movement started in 1942. Amidst the Second World War, Mahatma Gandhi decided to start a new phase of the freedom struggle against the British. As a result, on August 8, 1942, the Quit India movement was launched. He told the British to leave India right away. "Do or die" in your battle against the British, he told the people, but without using violence. Gandhiji and other leaders were imprisoned immediately, but the movement continued growing. Peasants and young people gave up their work and studies to join the movement. All around the nation, communications and state symbols were targeted.
