The Russo-Japanese War was a war which took place in 1904. It was more similar to that of a proxy war as much of the war took place in the northeastern part of China. It was a naval war, with the water vessels exchanging fire in the water itself. The naval conflict was mainly concentrated in the water surrounding the Korean peninsula. This very war changed the balance of power in Asia and resulted in a platform for the first world war.
