In 1885, the Santhals rise in revolt. Tribal groups were dependent on forest produce. All of them were unhappy with the forest laws of the British. Their livelihood was now all different from the way they used to live. Later tribal groups rebelled against the British in the nineteenth and twentieth century. The reasons were a change in laws, they had to pay high tax rates, and British officials are putting restrictions on their traditional practices. In addition, they had to face exploitation by traders and moneylenders. In 1885, Santhal rose to revolt against the Britishers. Later Baster and Warli revolt seen.
