The treaty of Vienna took place in 1815.
The representatives of the European nations that had unitedly defeated Napoleon in 1815.
Consequently, Britain, Russia, Prussia, and Austria met in Vienna to draw a settlement for the continent. Duke Metternich, the Austrian Chancellor, served as the Congress' host. The Treaty of Vienna of 1815 sought to reverse most of the changes in Europe due to the Napoleonic wars. The Bourbon family, which had been overthrown during the French Revolution, was reinstated, and France forfeited the lands that Napoleon had seized. In addition, many states were founded along France's borders to prevent further French expansion.
