The Warli revolt happened in 1940. All the tribal people expressed dissatisfaction with the problems and changes they were going through under British control in different ways. Their established ways of living appeared to disappear, their means of subsistence threatened, and their faith seriously jeopardised. Tribal communities across the nation revolted against legal changes, limitations on their customs, additional taxes they had to pay, and exploitation by traders and moneylenders throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. As a result, the Warli Revolt in Maharashtra broke out in 1940, the Bastar Rebellion in central India erupted in 1910, the Santhals in 1855, and the Kols in 1831–1832.
