Detailed Solution

The worst famine strikes China is 1958-1961.
The Great Chinese Famine took place between 1958 to 1961. It marked the deadliest famine in the history of the People's Republic of China. It is also regarded as one of the greatest man-made disasters in the history of mankind with an estimated death toll of more than 50 million people due to starvation. And it is said that the Chinese government is responsible for the famine, and if then China was a fully democratic nation, and it too had a multiparty system and a presence of public opinion and media to criticise the acts of governance.
