If we increase the filament current, the temperature of the filament rises and so the number of thermionic electrons emitted per second increases.

This results in increase in the number of electrons striking the target per second and hence the number of X-ray photons emitted per second increases. The wavelength and penetrating power of X-rays remain same but the intensity of the increases.
