When is the shadow due to sunlight the shortest?

• At noon, the sun is directly above the head so the light falls vertically straight on the opaque object. Therefore, the shadow is very short. 
• Whereas the sun's rays fall at an angle in the morning and evening, creating long shadows.
• Since there is no sunlight at night, shadows are not formed due to sunlight.

Hence shadow due to sunlight will be shortest at noon.
