Detailed Solution

When light falls at a critical angle on the surface of a rarer medium while coming from a denser medium, the refracting angle is 90 degrees.
The critical angle is the maximum angle at which light travels from one medium to another without being reflected. In other words, a critical angle is the incident angle above which total internal reflection takes place. It is formed in an optically denser medium for which the angle of refraction in the rarer medium is 90°. The light that is coming through an optically rarer medium falls at a critical angle on the interface of two different mediums. Then refracting angle in the optically denser medium will be 90°.
