Detailed Solution

When non-zero force and displacement are observed with zero work done, the angle between force and displacement is 90 degree.
W= F.s.cos θ
where W is the work done, F is the force, θ is the angle between the force and the direction of displacement.
The observed work is zero when Force and displacement are perpendicular to one another.
The work done is zero if θ=900,cos θ=0 to the direction of force applied.
A porter in a train station serves as an illustration of the perpendicular force and displacement. While moving forward with the luggage on his head, he exerts force in a vertical direction to keep it from falling (against gravity). The displacement, though, occurs in the horizontal plane. As a result, the directions of the force and the displacement are perpendicular. So, there was no work done against gravity.
