When the men were away fighting in the revolutionary war, women became the bread earners in France. The revolutionary wars brought losses to the people because the men were away fighting at the front. And women were left to do the tasks of earning a living and looking after their children and other family members. Moreover, the revolt happened because the Constitution in 1791 was not at all a satisfactory one.
