When soil is too basic, plants do not grow well in it. To improve its quality, we added organic matter into the soil.
Soils can either be acidic or basic. In case the soil is too basic, then the decaying of organic matter which is also called manure or compost is added to it. The added decaying organic matter produces acid which can neutralize the excess bases which are present in the soil and, as a result, also reduces its basic nature.
