In 2000 national policy for health was initiated.
The national population policy for health was initiated in the year 2000. It was also known as the NPP 2000. Under this initiative, the government has committed to providing awareness among citizens about family planning and meeting the unmet needs of contraceptives, health care infrastructure, health personnel, and, lastly, providing the integrated service delivery of primary reproductive and child care. The government has also committed to voluntary and informed citizens' choice to get reproductive care. Therefore, the citizens' health care was the main objective of the national population policy. One initiative was to shift the age of marriage from 15-18 years to 18-21 years.
