Detailed Solution

In 1793, Louis XVI  was sentenced to death.
The Jacobins organised a large-scale uprising of Parisians in the summer of 1792 who were enraged by the scarcity of food and its high cost. They entered the Palace of the Tuileries on August 10 in the early hours, murdered the king's guards, and took the king hostage. The Assembly later imprisoned the royal family, and new elections were held. Louis XVI was subsequently found guilty of treason and was given the death penalty by a court. He was publicly executed at the Place de la Concorde on January 21, 1793. In October, shortly after, Queen Marie Antoinette suffered the same fate.
