Lucknow was recaptured by the British forces on 21st March 1858.
The recapture of Lucknow took place after the Revolt of 1857, which alarmed the British and caused them to introduce new policies to rule over the subcontinent, which would help them manage the people of the region in a better way. As Lucknow was one of the key centers during the 1857 Revolt, British forces recaptured it under Sir Colin Campbell.
