Detailed Solution

MGNREGA was implemented in India in September 2005.
The National Rural Employment Act, later renamed the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Act (MGNREGA), is a demand-driven wage employment program run by the government of India, aiming to guarantee the people of India the ‘right to work.’ Under this program, all those who are in need of employment and are able and willing to do manual, unskilled work are guaranteed 100 days of assured wage employment in a year by the government. In the event of the government’s failure to provide such employment, it will give unemployment allowances to the targeted people.
