Detailed Solution

On 21 September 1792, monarchy was abolished and the republic instituted in France.
France was facing food shortages and a financial crisis that led to the outbreak of the French Revolution. King Louis was imprisoned in August 1792. It was led by Maximilien Robespierre. On 10 August 1792, Jacobins planned an insurrection and imprisoned the Royal Family. On 21 September 1792, it declared France a Republic. Louis XVI was sentenced to death on the charge of treason and was executed on 21 January 1793.
