NHRC was set up in 1993. It stands for 'National Human Rights Commission' and was established to speak on behalf of the victims in cases of human rights violations. It is an independent organisation, free from the influence of the government. It intervenes in cases of human rights abuse and seeks answers from all the parties involved.
