Detailed Solution

In 1848, slavery was abolished in France. In France, the slave trade was highly practised. Enslaved people worked on the plantations for sugar, tobacco, indigo, and coffee to meet the high demand for these products in the European market. Europeans relied on the slave trade to establish and expand their power in uncharted territory. There was opposition to the slave trade system. To free all the enslaved people was passed in a convention in 1794. Ten years after Napoleon reinstated the slave trade system. The slave trade eventually came to an end in 1848.
