Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana, which was launched in 1999. It is a poverty alleviation program with the objective of uplifting low-income families below the poverty line and bringing them out of poverty by assisting them in forming self-help groups within their communities and providing these SHGs with bank loans and government subsidies. The poverty alleviation programs aim to uplift the vulnerable and socially excluded communities by providing them wage employment which can help them earn incomes, fulfil their basic needs and gain respect in society.
