Detailed Solution

The Act, which transferred the power to rule India from the East India Company to the British Crown, was passed on 1st November 1858. After the revolt of 1857, Britishers thought of changing the company's rules to those of the British Crown. They did this to rule efficiently and have more control over the subcontinent and its population. So, the Act of transferring power was passed. It was also used to regain control over India, which was revolting. After the revolt of 1857, the colonial government changed the policies and ways of ruling India, and policies to pacify Indians were made.
