The Bahujan Samaj Party was founded in 1984.
On 14 April (Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's birthday) in 1984 Bahujan Samajwadi Party was founded by Shri Kanshi Ram. Its first president was Shri Kanshi Ram. It further came to be known as the National Party in 1997. Currently Smt. Mayavati is the president of the party. The main objective of this party was to abolish the country's social, economic, and political inequalities and continue the struggle initiated by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. This party was against the system of untouchability practiced in society and supported the rights of Dalit people who were marginalised in society. This party worked towards the Dalits' interests to ensure they got equal representation in the administration.
