Detailed Solution

Non-cooperation movement (NCM) was started in September 1920 at the Calcutta session of INC. NCM started with the only objective of “Swaraj as its ultimate aim”, said Gandhiji. People began to boycott anything which may help in profiting the colonial government. Many Businessmen, merchants and traders too started to trade any European goods or lend loans to other traders doing so. It resulted in the decline of the foreign cloth trade. Within just a year, it became nearly half of what it was. Indian indigenous clothes made from khadi became the go-to for the masses.
