The "Convention" was formed in 1792.
After the National Constituent Assembly, which served for two years, and the Legislative Assembly, which served for one year, the National Convention served as the French Revolution's parliament. However, this was the first French administration to be constituted as a republic, completely renouncing the monarchy. It was established following the great uprising of August 10, 1792. Nevertheless, what social class a person belonged to, all males 25 years and older were eligible to vote for National Convention delegates. Hence, following the monarchy's overthrow, the National Convention was chosen to draft a new constitution for the nation.
