In 1949, the draft of the Indian Constitution was completed. The nation was going through difficult times when the Constituent Assembly was convened to draft the Indian Constitution. Ensuring equality and justice among such diverse and shattered people was a humongous task. The Constituent Assembly took three years to complete the drafting of the Constitution in 1949. The Constitution was envisioned to preserve unity in diversity. The document made provisions for the socio-economic upliftment of the people as well as for a democratic electoral system. The Indian Constitution was adopted by the Assembly in 1949 and came into force in 1950.
