Detailed Solution

The Environment Protection Act was enacted in 1986. The legislation was made against the rising awareness of the importance of environmental protection. Earlier, only a few laws were in force to protect the environment. These laws lacked strict enforcement, allowing individuals and industries to continue contaminating their surroundings. Over time, people became sensitive to the cause of the conservation of the environment. As a result, the Environment Protection Act of 1986 came into force. This act vests all powers to take measures regarding environmental issues in the union government.
