Detailed Solution

In the mid-19th century, the grazing tax was introduced.
To expand the revenue, the colonial government started looking for every possible source of taxation. So the tax was introduced on land, water, and even salt and trade goods. Later, they even introduced a tax on animals. Every animal in the pasture had to pay the tax. In the pasture, the animals grazed. In most pastoral areas of India, the grazing tax was introduced in the mid-19th century. The tax per head of cattle went up rapidly, and the collection system was made increasingly efficient. Each was given a pass to enter a grazing area; cattle herders had to show the pass and pay the tax. The number of cattle heads and the amount of tax he paid were entered on the pass.
