Detailed Solution

The project ‘Protect Tiger’ was launched in 1973.
It is a conservation project specific to the tigers' conservation. It was launched after the realisation of the declining population of tigers at an alarming rate due to habitat loss, depletion of prey base species, poaching, and illegal trading. It aims to revive a viable Bengal tiger population in its natural habitat, protecting them from extinction and preserving the natural habitat and ecosystem for survival. The government established various tiger reserves for the conservation of tigers. Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand, Sundarbans National Park in West Bengal, Bandhavgarh National Park in Madhya Pradesh, Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary in Rajasthan, Manas Tiger Reserve in Assam, and Periyar Tiger Reserve in Kerala.
