Detailed Solution

The States' Reorganisation Commission was constituted in 1953. A Commission on States' Reorganization was created, and its report was released in 1956. After Andhra was founded, other language groups pushed for creating their separate states. For speakers of Assamese, Bengali, Oriya, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu, it was planned to establish compact provinces. The vast region of Hindi-speaking North India was also intended to be partitioned into some states. A short while later, in 1960, the bilingual state of Bombay was divided into separate Marathi and Gujarati-speaking states. Punjab was divided into two independent states in 1966: Punjab and Haryana, the former home to most Sikhs who speak Punjabi and the latter to the remainder.
