Detailed Solution

The use of the English language as the country's official language was to be stopped in 1965. It was fifteen years after it became the official language in 1950. Initially, when the Constitution was getting framed, it was decided that the English language would be used only until the year 1965, and later, it would be stopped for official purposes. This was done as many of the south Indian natives and from other areas of India were not comfortable with the idea that Hindi would be the only official language, and so they demanded English as one of the languages. But since English is a foreign language, constitution makers wanted not to use it, so they set a definite period for it. Thus they exclaimed that use of English would be till the year 1965. However, as known, English continues to be used as the country's official language.
