When was Valmiki Ji born?

The exact birth date of Maharishi Valmiki is not known, as he lived in ancient times. Scholars believe he may have lived around 500 BC. Every year, his birth is celebrated as Valmiki Jayanti, also known as Pragat Diwas, on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Ashwin (usually in September or October).

Valmiki is honoured as the Adi Kavi, meaning the first poet of Sanskrit literature, and is best known as the author of the great Hindu epic, the Ramayana. His teachings continue to inspire people to follow the path of truth, wisdom, and righteousness.
