Detailed Solution

Bahadur Shah Zafar died at Rangoon.
The company, alarmed by the magnitude of the uprising, decided to crush it with all its strength. It summoned soldiers from England, created new laws to make it easier to punish the rebels, and then pushed into the centre of the insurrection. In September 1857, the rebel forces were driven out of Delhi. Bahadur Shah Zafar, the last Mughal emperor, was convicted in court and sentenced to life in jail. In October 1858, he and his wife, Begum Zinat Mahal, were imprisoned in Rangoon. In November 1862, Bahadur Shah Zafar died in the Rangoon jail.
