Detailed Solution

Ibn Battuta came to travel to India from Morocco. He was an African explorer and scholar from the Maghreb. More than any other traveller in pre-modern times, he travelled widely throughout the Muslim world and across the continent of Afro-Eurasia. Muhammad ibn Tughluq was regarded as the richest individual in the Muslim world at that time. To bolster his power, he provided support to various professors, Sufis, and other officials. Largely due to Mamluk Egypt, the Tughlaq Dynasty was a rare surviving example of Muslim governance following a Mongol invasion. Due to his lengthy study period in Mecca, Ibn Battuta was picked by the sultan to serve as a qadi or judge. He struggled to uphold Islamic law outside of the sultan's court in India because there was no Islamic appeal in Delhi.
