Mahatma Gandhi used the word Satyagraha for the first time in South Africa. He pointed out that physical force is not necessary to fight the oppressor. One can win the fight without being aggressive through non-violence and the truth. It is done by appealing to the conscience of the oppressor. He named such a non-violence movement “Satyagraha.” Gandhi first introduced Satyagraha in South Africa for the rights of black people.
