Detailed Solution

Rani Lakshmi Bai took her last breath in Gwalior.
The British used various ways to grab the territories of the Indian rulers. The tools they used were hereditary policy and subsidiary alliance. They often took over the region by pointing out that the state was misadministered. According to the hereditary rule, only a king's biological son can inherit the throne. After the king's death, Rani Lakshmibai wanted to make her adopted son the official heir to the throne. But the British government did not approve it based on their hereditary policies. It led to a fight between Rani of Jhansi and the British. Finally, Rani Lakshmibai was defeated and breathed her last in Gwalior.
