Rokeya Hossain started a school for Muslim girls in Patna.
In the early twentieth century, Muslim women like the Begums of Bhopal took inspiration from reform movements active in different parts of India. They played a notable role in promoting education among women. Begums of Bhopal founded a primary school in Aligarh to educate girls.
Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain opened schools for Muslim girls in Patna and Calcutta. She fearlessly critiqued the conservative ideas, arguing that religious leaders of every faith accorded an inferior place to women.
