Detailed Solution

The British in Delhi lived in the Civil Lines after the rebellion was suppressed. When the city of Delhi came under British control after four months of the Revolt of 1857, the British completely changed the city's infrastructure with Muslim architecture and mosques as their primary target of destruction. In the 1870s, The western falls of Shahjahanabad were demolished to establish the railways and the city's expansion. Before the Revolt of 1857, segregation was not that rigid, and upper-class Indians used to live among Britishers as well.
