Meetings of the Constituent Assembly were conducted in New Delhi. As the constituent assembly, a gathering of chosen representatives came together to draft a new constitution. The Indian Constitution was framed as a result of these talks and went into effect on January 26, 1950. Dr Rajendra Prasad was the president of the Constituent Assembly. Additionally, it served as India's Parliament after independence. The Constituent Assembly was filled with 299 elected members, including 15 women.
